This means that generally an individual has two years from the time of the accident to claim a worker’s comp injury in Ohio.

This date is important because it does not change due to extraneous circumstances. For instance, if an original claim is denied and a new one is filed, the time frame remains the same. This statute applies to injuries, diseases and fatalities suffered while on the job.

For occupational diseases, generally the filing time limit is two years from when it began or six months from the time the disease is diagnosed by a licensed physician.
